Power E*TRADE Pro

Initial Log In

When you log into Power E*TRADE Pro for the first time, you will find many similar features, tools, and designs you are familiar with from our other platforms, placed in a new, highly customizable, pro-level desktop trading platform. A feature unique to Power E*TRADE Pro is the level of customization it offers including multi-monitor support and highly configurable workspaces which let you tailor the platform to exactly how you prefer to trade.

When logging into Power E*TRADE Pro for the first time, you will see a top menu bar consisting of buttons: Account Menu, Tools Menu, Trade, Alerts, Knowledge, and Settings. The bottom menu bar has a market close countdown clock, along with a menu detailing your quote data subscriptions. Also available on the bottom menu bar is a “Send Us Feedback” submission box, should you want to submit suggestions on the platform to our developers. For your privacy, kindly do not send account-specific or questions from this location. Instead, please refer to our Customer Support Center for customer assistance.

Power E*TRADE Pro will default to have three workspaces prebuilt into the platform, available as tabs on the upper menu bar which are named Home Screen, Charts, and Research.

Home Screen Workspace 

Home Screen is your default workspace, and it consists of five tools tiled in their own dedicated windows: Balances, Orders, Chart, Positions, and Options. Tool windows are moveable across the entirety of the platform screen, as well as scalable in size, allowing you to customize exactly the view you would like. You can quickly view which tools are in a workspace by clicking on its name in the top menu bar. For example, clicking on Home Screen will display a dropdown list of tools in use, as well as an option to rename or delete the default workspace.

If you click and hold on the header bar of any tool window, you can drag it across the platform screen and place in another location; hover the cursor over the top, bottom, right, and left perimeters of the tool, or on the corners, then click and drag to expand or condense the size of the tool window. To remove a tool window from the workspace, click on the X icon on the upper right corner of that specific tool window.

Charts Workspace

The default Charts workspace has been built with a 2x2 grid of charts sized equally; as on the Home Screen workspace tab, you can resize each chart window by clicking and dragging the perimeter frame, and you can move each chart window around the platform or even drag onto another monitor by clicking and holding the header bar and dragging to the desired location. Should you want to add additional chart windows to this workspace, click on the Tools dropdown menu and select Charts. Once the new window appears, you will resize and drag/drop to fit into the rest of the chart layout.

Research Workspace

The default Research workspace contains the following tools: Watch List, Earnings, Chart, Quick Trade, News, and Market Depth. Any tool can be removed from this workspace by clicking on the X icon on the upper right corner of its window.

Custom Workspace

You may choose to keep the default workspaces, or you may make your own workspaces fully customized with the specific tools you would like, placed and scaled to the way that best suits your trading style. If you wish to make your own workspace, click on the + button on the upper menu bar to open a blank canvas, then refer to the Tools Menu on the left side of the upper menu bar to access the entire list of tools and features we have available for use in the Power E*TRADE Pro platform.

To view visual and interaction functionality options for the platform such as light/dark theme and frame/free form modes, click on the cog wheel Settings button on the upper most right corner of the platform, and refer to the subsections Style and Platform.

Knowledge

The Knowledge Center is accessible from the lightbulb icon button on the upper right corner of the platform. From here you can access a library of concise, topic-focused videos that will help get up to speed on some key aspects, tools, and how to personalize your experience on Power E*TRADE Pro
