Who is eligible?
Morgan Stanley Blue Cash Preferred® American Express Card is only available for clients who have an Eligible Account with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC (which includes E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley) or Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association. An Eligible Account is a brokerage or bank account (i) held in your name, (ii) held by a trust where you are both the grantor and trustee of such trust, or (iii) held as a beneficial owner of a personal holding company, a non-operating limited liability company, a non-operating limited partnership, or a similar legal entity. American Express will only issue the Card to (1) a Morgan Stanley client who is an individual; and (2) an individual associated with a Morgan Stanley client (if the Morgan Stanley client itself is not an individual). Eligibility is subject to change. American Express may cancel your Card Account and participation in this program, if you do not maintain an Eligible Account.‡
Individuals 18 years of age or over with a valid U.S. home address (including in the U.S. territories and Puerto Rico) and an eligible Morgan Stanley or E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley account may apply for a Card account. If you don't have an eligible E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley or Morgan Stanley account, you can open one by calling 800-387-2331 if your account is held at E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley or contacting your Morgan Stanley team if your account is held at Morgan Stanley.
What are exclusive benefits that Morgan Stanley clients can get if they sign up for the Morgan Stanley Blue Cash Preferred® American Express Card?
Exclusively with the Morgan Stanley Blue Cash Preferred® Card, you can earn a $100 Annual Statement Credit every calendar year after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases on the Card per calendar year.
Basic Morgan Stanley Blue Cash Preferred® Card Members will receive a $100 statement credit if, the total eligible purchases on their Card Account in a calendar year equals $15,000 or more (the “Purchase Requirement”). A calendar year is from January 1 to December 31, regardless of when the Card Account is opened. This means that, for the first year of Card Membership, a Card Member may have less than twelve months to meet the Purchase Requirement. Eligible purchases to meet the Purchase Requirement are for goods and services minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of traveler's checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments, or purchases of other cash equivalents. Eligible purchases can be made by both the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on the Card Account. However, the total statement credit amount available through this benefit is $100 per calendar year per Card Account. Please allow 8-12 weeks after the Purchase Requirement is met for the statement credit to be posted to the Card Account. American Express relies on the merchant's processing of transactions to determine the transaction date. If there is a delay in the merchant submitting a transaction to us or if a merchant uses another date as the transaction date then your purchase may not count toward the Purchase Requirement for the calendar year in which you made the purchase. For example, if an eligible purchase is made on December 31st but the merchant processes the transaction such that it is identified to us as occurring on January 1st, this purchase will count towards the next calendar year's benefit period. American Express also relies on information provided to us by the merchant to identify eligible purchases. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as eligible for this benefit, the Basic Card Member will not receive the statement credit. Basic Card Members may not receive the statement credit if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible. Statement credits may not be received or may be reversed if an eligible purchase is returned, refunded, cancelled or modified. If the Card Account is cancelled or past due at the time of statement credit fulfillment, it may not quality to receive the statement credit. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide a statement credit and may reverse a statement credit provided to you.
