The transaction between E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley closed on October 2, 2020.

Has my E*TRADE account been moved to Morgan Stanley?

No. Your E*TRADE account is still held at E*TRADE.

Will anything about my account change? (e.g., account number, account statements, W-8, 1099, log-on credentials, website, mobile access, conversions, etc.)

No. Your existing account information remains the same, and all existing account instructions are the same, including direct deposit, ATM, bill pay, checks, wire and ACH instructions, etc.

Will I continue to receive account and tax documents from E*TRADE?

Yes. All administrative and tax documentation will continue to be sent or posted by E*TRADE.

Will my account preferences or settings change?

No. Your existing account preferences and subscriptions, including market data, options trading levels, margin status, beneficiaries, powers of attorney, and the like, remain the same.

I have an account at Morgan Stanley. Can I open an E*TRADE account?

  • Yes. You can open an E*TRADE account and view our account offerings at any time.
  • Please note: Automated Customer Account Transfer (ACAT) fees will be waived for transfers between E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley Accounts.

Do I continue to access my account through the E*TRADE website and mobile app?

Yes, you should continue using E*TRADE’s digital platforms (e.g., etrade.com, the E*TRADE mobile app, and Power E*TRADE) to access your E*TRADE accounts.

Do I need to set up a user ID and password at Morgan Stanley?

You do not need to set up a user ID and password at Morgan Stanley to access E*TRADE accounts. Please continue to access your account as you normally would.

I have accounts at both E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley. Will I see all my accounts in one place?

At this time, our platforms are separate. E*TRADE customers should continue to access their E*TRADE accounts on etrade.com or an E*TRADE mobile app.  You may, however, link and view your E*TRADE accounts on Morgan Stanley Online or the Morgan Stanley Mobile App by using Total Wealth View. As we move forward together, we hope to combine the best of both our offerings into one experience.

Will I now be able to access my Morgan Stanley accounts via E*TRADE’s platforms (e.g., Power E*TRADE and the E*TRADE mobile app)?

As of now, your Morgan Stanley accounts are not visible on E*TRADE platforms. You may, however, link and view your E*TRADE accounts on Morgan Stanley Online or the Morgan Stanley Mobile App by using Total Wealth View.

Will trade-related pricing change (e.g., commissions and fees)?

No, E*TRADE will continue offering $0 commissions on online US stock, ETF, and options trades. Other trade-related pricing also remains the same. View pricing and rates

Will E*TRADE product pricing be changing?

Our pricing remains the same.

I have an existing product at E*TRADE or Morgan Stanley, but I want to switch to the other firm's version of the product. Can I do this?

  • We are working closely to enhance your experience with the best of both of our offerings and in time hope to offer E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley products and services all under one roof. We will communicate updates early and often.
  • In the meantime, if there is a specific Morgan Stanley product that you are interested in, contact Morgan Stanley at 866-743-5700. Similarly, if there is an E*TRADE product or service you would like to add, give us a call at 800-ETRADE-1 (800-387-2331).

I am participating in a promotional offer at E*TRADE. Will it continue? Will details change?

If you are part of an active promotional offer at E*TRADE, you will continue to be a part of that offer with no change to the offer requirements or details.

Will I now have access to Morgan Stanley's wealth management tools and platform?

For now, only Morgan Stanley wealth management customers will have access to its wealth management tools and platform. We are working closely with Morgan Stanley to enhance your experience with the best of both of our offerings and in time hope to offer E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley products and services all under one roof. We will communicate updates early and often.

I have an E*TRADE bank account. Will it still be held at E*TRADE?

Yes, your bank account with remain at E*TRADE Bank.

I have an E*TRADE managed account. Will it continue to be managed by E*TRADE or will it move to Morgan Stanley? Will the pricing change?

  • Your experience with your managed account (including pricing) has not changed as a result of this integration. If you work with an E*TRADE Relationship Manager or Financial Consultant, you should continue to do so.
  • We are working closely to enhance your experience with the best of both of our offerings and in time hope to offer E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley products and services all under one roof. We will communicate updates early and often.

Are any E*TRADE features changing? (investment choices, tools, account types, platforms)

Your current account features—including but not limited to access to E*TRADE Pro and Power E*TRADE—remain the same. We have no intention of disrupting the service and experience you're used to. To the extent that we make any changes, we will notify you well in advance.

Was my personal information protected during this merger?

Security is our top priority. E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley have taken special care to help ensure that your account information has been and will continue to be protected as we join our companies.

Will the E*TRADE Securities LLC excess of SIPC insurance policy remain the same?

E*TRADE Securities LLC clients will be covered under the Morgan Stanley excess of SIPC supplemental insurance policy. Under SIPC, securities in your securities brokerage account(s) are protected up to $500,000 ($250,000 for cash claims). Morgan Stanley also maintains additional insurance with an aggregate limit of $1 billion. Please be advised that you may obtain information about SIPC, including the SIPC brochure, by contacting SIPC at 202-371-8300 or by visiting sipc.org

Will E*TRADE’s FDIC coverage remain the same?

Yes, the FDIC insurance coverage on E*TRADE Bank and E*TRADE Savings Bank (dba E*TRADE Adviser Services) accounts remains the same.

I have accounts at both E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley. Can I transfer money between my E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley accounts?

  • Yes, you can transfer cash between your E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley accounts via an ACH (Automated Clearing House) transfer or a wire request.
  • To add money to your E*TRADE account, log on to etrade.com and click “Transfers” on the navigation bar.

Do I need to use a different E*TRADE routing number (for things like direct deposits and incoming wires)?

  • No, you should continue to use the same routing numbers for E*TRADE.

Will my recurring deposits at E*TRADE be affected by this merger?

No, there is no impact to recurring deposits you may have set up on your E*TRADE account(s). In other words, the specific instructions you’ve established for incoming transfers or wires to your E*TRADE or Morgan Stanley accounts remain the same at this time.

Can Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE accept checks on behalf of one another?

No, Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE cannot accept checks on each other’s behalf at this time. Deposits into:

  • An E*TRADE account can be done by mobile deposit via the E*TRADE mobile application or by mail
  • A Morgan Stanley account can be done by Morgan Stanley mobile deposit, branch deposit, or by mail

Can clients with accounts at both Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE reorder checkbooks through either institution?

No, you should continue to order E*TRADE checkbooks from E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley checkbooks from Morgan Stanley.

Why are the rates different for clients with both an E*TRADE Premium Savings Account (PSA) and Morgan Stanley Preferred Savings?

These products have different features resulting in different pricing.

Why are there different rates for Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE sweep programs?

  • The Morgan Stanley Bank Deposit Program is offered to Morgan Stanley Smith Barney brokerage and Managed Account holders. The E*TRADE Extended Sweep Deposit Account Program (ESDA), International Sweep Deposit Account (ISDA), Retirement Sweep Deposit Account (RSDA), and Cash Balance programs are offered to E*TRADE Securities brokerage account holders.
  • The Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE sweep programs have different eligibility criteria, sweep cash balances to different depository institutions, and offer differing amounts of FDIC insurance coverage.
  • We will take some time to evaluate the many factors related to these sweep programs. We anticipate offering a unified program in the future.

Do I continue to call the same phone number for questions and support?

  • Yes. The E*TRADE customer support number has not changed and we’d be happy to help you with any of your account questions. You can continue to reach us at 800-ETRADE-1 (800-387-2331).
  • Additionally, if you have a specific point of contact here at E*TRADE, you should continue working with that person and his/her contact information has not changed.

Can I visit both E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley branches for assistance?

Your current service experience has not changed due to this integration. Please continue to visit E*TRADE branches for your E*TRADE account and, if you have an E*TRADE Relationship Manager, Financial Advisor, or Financial Consultant, continue to work with that person.

I have a Financial Consultant or Relationship Manager at E*TRADE. Do I continue to work with that person?

Please continue to work with your existing Relationship Manager, Financial Advisor, or Financial Consultant.

Can I contact Morgan Stanley if I have questions about my E*TRADE accounts?

At this time, your service experience remains the same. For matters pertaining to your E*TRADE account(s), please continue to contact E*TRADE and, if you work with an E*TRADE Relationship Manager, Financial Advisor, or Financial Consultant, please feel free to continue to do so. Can I get a Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor?

Will E*TRADE’s Customer Service hours change?

No. Your E*TRADE service experience has not changed. You can continue to contact E*TRADE Customer Service via phone, chat, or secure message 24/7.

I have an existing point of contact at E*TRADE—e.g., Financial Consultant, Relationship Manager, or Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). Will that relationship change in any way?

No. The relationship with your point of contact will remain the same and his or her contact information will not change.

Will my participant user ID and password change?

No, your log-on credentials remain the same and you can continue to access your account(s) as you normally would.

Will the E*TRADE Stock Plan Portal be integrated with the Morgan Stanley at Work Portal? If so, when?

There are currently no changes to the E*TRADE Stock Plan dashboard. However, rest assured that any future enhancements or changes will be communicated early and often.

Can I continue to turn to the same E*TRADE team for support? Will the contact information change?

Yes, you can continue to go to the same E*TRADE team for stock plan support and use the same phone numbers. In addition, Executive Services participants can continue to get support via email at executiveservice@etrade.com.

Will my stock plan participant experience change in any way?

E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley are partnering closely to enhance the stock plan participant experience with the best of both firms’ offerings, including wealth management and financial wellness solutions offered through Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Morgan Stanley at Work.

I have an E*TRADE stock plan account and a companion E*TRADE brokerage account. Can I continue to have both?

Yes, you’ll continue to maintain both your E*TRADE stock plan account(s) and companion brokerage account.

I have an existing point of contact at E*TRADE—e.g., Relationship Manager, Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), or Financial Consultant. Will that relationship change in any way?

No, if you have an existing relationship with someone at E*TRADE—a Financial Advisor, RIA, or Relationship Manager—you’ll continue working with that person and there is no change to his or her contact information.

Will I continue to receive communications pertaining to my stock plan account from E*TRADE?

Yes, in the near term, all communications related to your E*TRADE accounts will come from E*TRADE.

Will I continue to receive tax documents from E*TRADE?

Yes, all administrative and tax documentation related to your participant stock plan or companion brokerage account will continue to be sent or posted by E*TRADE.

Will my E*TRADE brokerage account holdings change?

No, there are no changes that would affect your brokerage account holdings.

I have an existing relationship with a Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor. Will they have access to my E*TRADE account?

Not immediately, but as internal systems and employees are integrated over time, we aim to offer functionality like this for those interested.

Will E*TRADE stock plan participants have access to any Morgan Stanley products and services?

E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley are partnering closely to enhance your experience with the best of both of our offerings. We’ll let you know more as information becomes available.

Do I have a choice between Morgan Stanley products and E*TRADE products when accessing solutions?

At this time, you will need to maintain separate accounts and relationships at both E*TRADE and Morgan Stanley. We’re already working to offer you more seamless access to both sets of products in the future—and will be sure to keep you posted as we get closer.

I have an existing investment plan with E*TRADE. Can I transfer it to a Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor?

No, E*TRADE investment plans cannot be directly transferred to a Morgan Stanley advisor because the managed portfolio solutions offered by Morgan Stanley differ from the managed accounts offered at E*TRADE.

I have an existing E*TRADE or Morgan Stanley 10b5-1 plan. Will it change following the integration?

No. There are no planned changes to existing 10b5-1 plans.

If I have a complaint about Morgan Stanley, can I register it with my E*TRADE Relationship Manager?

At this time, Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE are still operating separately. Both firms are partnering closely to enhance the client experience with the best of both of our offerings. As we integrate services and offerings, we will communicate updates to you and your clients in a timely manner. In the interim please reach out to Morgan Stanley directly to formally file your complaint. The phone number can be found on your last Morgan Stanley statement and also by logging into your Morgan Stanley account online.

Will E*TRADE’s stock plan participant data privacy policy change following the integration with Morgan Stanley?

E*TRADE’s Privacy Statement and Consumer Privacy Notice have been revised to reflect E*TRADE’s new status as a Morgan Stanley affiliate and to permit the sharing of creditworthiness data among affiliates. Customers have the opportunity to opt out of the sharing of their information with Morgan Stanley for marketing purposes and to opt out of the sharing of creditworthiness data for everyday business purposes.  The revised Privacy Statement and Consumer Privacy Notice were posted to E*TRADE’s website on October 2, 2020, and electronic or paper versions of these documents will be sent to all customers depending on their disclosure preference. As required by law, to provide customers with a reasonable period for opt out, E*TRADE will not begin sharing customer data with Morgan Stanley for marketing purposes or sharing creditworthiness data for everyday business purposes until 30 days after delivery of the revised documents. Any choices customers previously made regarding receiving marketing emails and phone calls will continue to be honored post-acquisition.
