E*TRADE from Morgan Stanley

09/21/26

Summary: Extended hours trading on E*TRADE lets eligible investors place trades outside the regular market session, including pre-market, post-market, and overnight sessions. Here’s how to place an extended hours trade, what order types are available, and what to know before getting started.

Key takeaways:

  • E*TRADE supports extended hours trading during eligible pre-market, post-market, and overnight sessions.
  • Extended hours trading requires limit orders; market orders are not accepted.
  • Session availability, eligible securities, and supported order types may vary.
  • Some extended hours orders may continue to work through later sessions unless canceled, while unexecuted orders expire at the applicable session cutoff.
  • Extended hours trading involves additional risks, including lower liquidity, higher volatility, wider bid/ask spreads, and less market visibility.

E*TRADE allows placing limit orders during extended hours trading sessions, including pre-market, post-market, and overnight.
