How do I activate a hardware token for two-factor authentication?
- Go to etrade.com and click on the Security Settings tab.
- Click on the "Manage two-factor authentication" link.
- Click on the "No mobile device? Add a hardware token" link.
- Enter the serial number from the back of your hardware token.
- Enter the personal access code on the front of your hardware token.
- Click the "Add authenticator" button.
How do I use my two-factor authenticator to login to my account?
- Go to E*TRADE etrade.com.
- Enter your user ID and password.
- Check the box next to "Use security code".
- Enter the six-digit code from your device in the Security code field.
- Click Log on.
Where is the best place to keep my two-factor hardware token safe?
- DO keep your two-factor authenticator with you so that you can access your account information, even when you're on the go. We recommend putting it on your key-chain.
- DON'T store the device with your computer.
