View portfolios and watch lists

The Portfolios page shows information about the holdings in your E*TRADE Securities brokerage account. We automatically add information about those holdings when you place trades or transfer assets from another institution. You can use "watch lists" to track your holdings as well as securities you might be interested in but don't own.

Add, edit, or delete entries in my portfolio or watch list
You can edit or remove entries from your portfolio or watch list, but because your portfolio contains information about the holdings in your E*TRADE Securities brokerage account, you cannot add entries to your portfolio. You can, however, add the securities in your portfolio to a watch list, and add additional symbols for securities you'd like to track or compare.

To edit or delete entries in the portfolio:
  1. Go to the Portfolios page.
  2. If you have more than one portfolio or watch list, at Account/Watch List, select the portfolio you'd like to change.
  3. If you're not in the Performance view, select it from the View menu.
  4. Click Edit next to the security you'd like to edit.

    Tips:
    • To edit your entire holdings at once, click Edit List to the right of the Account/Watch List menu.
    • Certain holdings cannot be edited. Learn more
    • If you wish to change a lot selection after a trade is executed ("modify off-setting lots"), you must do so before 4 p.m. ET on the settlement date of the trade. Learn more

  5. You can change the price paid, date acquired, commission, and fees for each security.
  6. To save your changes, click Done.
To add, edit, or delete entries in a watch list:
  1. Go to the Portfolios page.
  2. If you have more than one portfolio or watch list, at Account/Watch Lists, select the watch list you'd like to make a change to.
  3. Click Edit List.
  4. To add a symbol, take the following steps:
    • For stocks, mutual funds, and indexes – Enter your symbol in the first Add Symbol field on the left, and then click Add or press Enter. Use either spaces or commas to enter more than one symbol at a time. If you don't find the symbol for a security, click the magnifying glass icon.
    • For options – Enter the symbol for the underlying security in the second Add Symbol field on the left, and click Get Chain or press Enter. In the list that appears, find your option by expiration month, select Call or Put next to your strike price, and then click Add.

    • Notes:
To view all strikes or include adjusted options in the chain, be sure to check the appropriate boxes.

  5. As soon as you click Add, your symbol(s) will appear in the box on the right. All new symbols in the box will be highlighted in green.
  6. If you'd like to delete a symbol, select it in the box on the right, and then click Remove. To select more than one symbol at a time, press CTRL on your keyboard while clicking your mouse.
  7. To change the order in which symbols appear in your watch list, select the symbol in the box on the right, and then click the Move Up or Move Down button.
  8. To change information about a security in your watch list, click Add/Edit Holdings. You can change the security type, quantity, price per share, date acquired, commission, and position type for each symbol you hold or follow.
  9. To save your changes, click Done.

Understand my StockPlan Portfolios page
The Stock Plan Portfolios page displays all your employee stock plan holdings, including stock options, stock option shares, restricted stock, and stock purchase plan shares.

Your Stock Plan Portfolios page is designed to make it easy for you to view important information all on a single page, including:
  • Grant dates, grant numbers, and grant types
  • Exercisable shares, sellable shares, and estimated value
  • The taxes paid on restricted stock grants
  • Current share prices, number of shares purchased, sellable shares, and estimated value
Trading from the Portfolios Page
If you have exercised options (purchased a grant's underlying shares of stock) and want to sell some or all of your shares, by clicking the Trade link you may place your order directly from this page.

Comparing Different Transaction Types
By clicking the Calculator link, you can explore a variety of "what if" scenarios based on your stock plan holdings, and compare the results of different transaction types to see which is most favorable for you: same-day sale, sell to cover, or cash exercise.
